My training

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton. I’ve been trained in Person Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Existential Therapy.

My training focused on the importance of relationships. How I, as a counsellor, relate to you, as a client. I also explore what that relationship says about your relationships outside of therapy. I draw from all of these approaches, and I'm also influenced by Bob and Mary Goulding’s Redecision Therapy.

What this means for you

I believe everyone is unique. That you are unique. You have your own way of relating to yourself, other people, and the world around you. Therefore there is no “one size fits all” in how I approach therapy.

If you choose to work with me, towards the end of our first session I will suggest a possible way of working together. You can agree to that, or we can discuss alternatives until you are comfortable. As well, it may be appropriate to look again at my approach as our work evolves. Again, I would check with you before making any changes.

One of my core beliefs is that everyone has choices in their lives. I want to help you discover, or rediscover, the choices available to you. To help you find the inner strength to make the changes you want to make.

Choice of locations

I practice from The Summerhouse therapy room in Lewes, Sussex. However, I also offer a Walking and Talking option, taking advantage of Lewes’ location in the heart of the Sussex Downs. You can read more about this option here.

It's all about relationships

I place our relationship at the heart of my approach. Research shows the quality of the client/therapist relationship has a direct impact on successful outcomes. This is why I offer a free initial meeting to see how we might get along together. This can help us decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
